Information Delivery Services (IDS)

IDS allows you to request journal articles, books, and other materials that are not available from the Milne Library's collection.

This free service is available to current SUNY Geneseo faculty, staff, and students.

To place a request:

  • Access your IDS account using your Geneseo username and password
  • Or, click on the Get Text button within any of our library databases

Most articles arrive within 1-3 days and are delivered electronically. Books and other materials arrive within 3-7 days and can be picked up at the Circulation Desk. You will be notified via email when your items arrive.

IDS office hours (Milne 209):

Monday-Thursday:8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Friday:8:00 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.
Sunday:2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Fraser & Holcomb Retrieval Service

Is an item you need is located in Fraser or Holcomb? Place an IDS request for it and let us get it for you.

Books will be held at the Milne Library Circulation desk for you to pick up, and journal articles will be scanned and delivered to you electronically.

Faculty/Staff Article Delivery Service

As an additional service for faculty and staff, IDS will electronically deliver copies of articles, book chapters, and government documents that are located within the Milne Library's collection.

Simply access your IDS account and place a request.

Information for Other Libraries and Organizations

Milne Library is a member of OCLC and our collection is listed in the WorldCat union catalog. If your library or organization does not share resources through OCLC, then you can place a request for our materials using our Lending Request Form.

To create an account, please contact us. We do not charge for lending materials unless you also charge lending fees.
